Halloween 2013

I think I was probably being a little over zealous this year wanting to make Adelyn's Halloween costume. I mean I sew, and I have sewn a few skirts for her and I sew baby stuff but a costume is a totally different kind of "beast."

Casey and I had decided that as a family we were going to dress up together so that we would match. It could be a theme, or a set of characters whatever we decided we wanted to be that year. I came up with the idea of Little Red Ridding Hood , The Big Bad Wolf, and Grandma. I just thought that Adelyn would make the cutest Little Red Ridding Hood.

After deciding this, I had this picture in my mind of how I wanted us to look, so I went to find a pattern that matched what I had in my head of Adelyn as Little Red Ridding Hood. This is what I came up with. :)

Probably not the best picture but you get the idea. I actually loved how it turned out. Adelyn LOVED the hood! I am thinking I might get some crush velor in a different color so that she can have one to play with (probably purple because it is her favorite color)

After I got Adelyn's costume done I was on the search for items to finish Casey's and my costumes. I had decided that I didn't have much time to make them so I was going to just see what I could put together that would fit what I wanted us to look like.

This is what I came up with. This is me as grandma, please forgive me for the background, we are refinishing the bathroom and the green on the wall was going to be the color and it has recently been decided that we were going to use a different color.

This next picture is of Casey, Adelyn and I right before we headed to the ward trunk or treat. Our ward had a wonderful trunk or treat with lots of people that participated, and they hot dogs and hot chocolate too which was great. That was the only place we went trick or treating which was plenty for Adelyn.

Isn't that face just priceless, she really liked her outfit and she liked that she got to carry a basket.

I know this picture is a little fuzzy but I love that she is running from the Big Bad Wolf, they were playing in the yard and people kept walking by, and stopping and staring at them.

This is Addi showing off her candy she had stolen from our Halloween bucket for people that came to our house. She couldn't wait til we went to the ward part. :)

All in all, I think it turned out to be a great Halloween. I got lots of compliments on all of our outfits, which was nice. Casey and I had talked about this next year and so far one of our ideas is a family of Gnomes. Adelyn loves Gnomeo and Juliet, so we thought she might enjoy dressing up as a gnome. We will see I guess. :)

It is officially catch up time...

I have disappeared for awhile and didn't realize how long until I went to my blog and realized it had been a little over 6 months since I had written on my blog and there is so much to catch up on I will write several posts in the next few days trying to catch up and hopefully I will be better at the whole blogging thing from now on. :)

So I guess the first thing to start with is that on September 26th Casey and I celebrated our 3rd Anniversary! Man, I think about it and it seems like forever again and then again it also seems like yesterday.

This is our most recent photo of the two of us. In Three years a lot has happened, I'm gonna do a little recap of our life the last 3 years.

  • We have officially lived in 3 different states (Arizona, Idaho, and Washington)
  • Out of those 3 states we have lived in 5 different places which means we have moved 5 different times! I hate moving!!! Hate it!
  • We have made it through our first deployment, it was hard (since that was when I was pregnant and had Adelyn) But I think in the end it has made us stronger as a couple
  • We had our first child Adelyn and she is the greatest blessing in our life! She makes life interesting and she is so smart, it is always fun watching her learn new things.
  • We have gone through 9 different jobs between the two of us.
I have realized that I made probably the best choice of my life when I married Casey, he is definitely my soul mate! We had totally had our ups and downs, but with those we have become closer to each other, I have realized that Casey is the only person I would want to spend Eternity with. He is the BEST dad to Adelyn, he is a better dad for my children than I could have ever hoped for. He provides for our family, he is a super hard worker and we have never gone without anything that we have needed which I am so thankful for. I am so happy where my life is right now and how it has turned out. I know that marriage is always sunshine and flowers but with Casey I'll take the ups with the downs, there have been more ups than downs and he helps me through them all! To the love of my life, these three years have been wonderful and I can't wait to spend many more with you.

Falling off the face of the Earth...

I'm sure you all thought I had fallen off the face of the Earth....well I didn't, I am just not good at this whole blog posting thing! So much has gone on since.....JUNE, yep that's right it's September and I haven't posted since June. :( Sorry. So I'll do a little back tracking to catch everyone up. I'll try and make it short and sweet. It's 213am here and I couldn't sleep so why not catch up the old blog! :)

Since June, Casey has had his special military training that was for a month in Idaho. Addi went with him and stayed at my parents house. I haven't found anyone here to watch Addi that I feel comfortable with, and I get off work at 1130pm so I feel bad leaving her at someones house til 1145 or so when I can pick her up.

My mom and dad love it though, they don't get to see us to much so a month with Addi is fabulous for them. Atleast that is what they tell me. I am sure she is a handful, she's a handful for me. :) At this training Casey was asked to do this special training and stuff with new tanks so instead of transferring to Washington he will be staying in the Idaho guard unit til August of next year. Which means that he travels to Idaho once a month, I go with him sometimes depending on if I work or not. Which is nice cause I get to see my family, it always seems like I don't have enough time while I am there. I plan to much!!

The summer has come and gone, and I don't know where it went. If feels like it was just beginning and now its over. We didn't do a whole lot this summer. We went to Seattle and visited the Zoo. Addi love it and it was Casey and I's first time in Seattle and we seemed to like it, we'll be going back sometime to do more things that we didn't have time or money for this time. The weather over there was fabulous though it was the perfect weather to go to the zoo.

I have been working a lot! Casey got a job with Coke but it has worked out. They don't really have a set schedule and it's just crazy and for the best interest of our family we have decided to have him quit and stay home and just do side jobs. Financially it's probably not the best thing but for our family it is so we'll make it work. I have been praying that my side business pick up and help with our money situation, and it has. I have ten orders right now and I am trying to get ready for a craft fair that I am attending in Ontario, OR on Oct 6th. So between my regular job and my business I have been super busy and if you came to my house you can see that I have done nothing else! My house shows it! I need to find some cleaning fairies and tell them what I need done. :)

Casey and Addi have been gone again for the past 3 weeks. Casey got called to Active duty to fight fires and he took Addi to my parents again. Even though it is nice to be able to sew without "help" from Addi, I miss that kid like nothing else!! I also miss my husband, but we've been away from each other before I kind of know what to expect. With Addi she changes so much it makes me sad. She is talking more and I can't wait for her to come home so I can hear it!

I am going to make her halloween costume this year, she is going to be little red ridding hood, I have all the stuff to make it I just  need to find the time to do it! I have been so busy with this craft fair to get ready for that I haven't started it yet and I bought it in June figuring that I have plenty of time to get it done and now it is  September. :(

She is getting so big! Her hair is long enough that I can pull it back in a pony tail or two pig tails

This is my family at the Zoo we had such a good time

This was Addi's favorite animal at the zoo, she even got a stuffed jaguar to take home, her name is Jazi

This is my little rag-a-muffin girl in the morning, she cracks me up

Other than that I can't think of anything else that is important enough to mention. Casey and I are planning on going to Disneyland in January. We have been saving and we are driving to save money, which makes it so that my mom and little sister can go with us which is nice. We are way excited and can't wait to go. I hope all is well with your families.

Our new car!

I wrote about us getting a new car two posts ago, and I didn't have any pictures so now I have a picture to post for you. Also I was gonna tell you a few cool things about the van that I love!! One thing the Casey likes about it as well as me is that the brake and gas pedal move. So I don't have to move the seat all the way forward like I usually do, I drive short, I have short legs and if I get in after Casey I can barely touch the pedals with my toes. :)

I love that it has stow and go seats, all the seats fold down which gives tons of room to haul things, and if we want to leave Addi's seat up and fold the rest down so I can take business stuff to craft fairs and stuff I can. Love Love Love that!!!

I like that it has doors and a truck that opens with buttons and it is so nice to have and I can turn it off if I want to.

It has dvd players in the head rests which Adelyn loves, and we love it too cause she is a better traveler with those in the headrests. :)

I also love all the little compartments and the lights. There are separate lights for each seat in case you want to read or something and then there are green running lights on the top which I like when it's night time. :)

And I love the color of the van too, it's probably my favorite color of car I have owned.

Me just about me....

Work had been going great lately for me, I work from 1pm to 1130pm 4 days a week. They recently switched me to 4, 10 hour days. I work 3 days have 2 off, work 2 have 2 off work 3 have two off. It's nice cause on the weekends I get off at 730pm cause I come in at 9am so I get to spend more time with my family then I was before. It stinks cause I work every other Sunday so I don't get to go to church every Sunday.

I am still trying to work on my weight loss. I had a blog that I follow from a friend's wife back home and she is doing the biggest loser with her town and posted the goals they are following. I decided I would try it too so I am going to post them here in case you all want to try too.

drink 6 cups of water a day
Excercise at least 15 mins a day
Eat 2 fruit
Eat 2 cups of Veggies
No Soda
No eating after 8pm (which is hard for me since I am still at work.
No fried food or food cooked in oil (try baking or grilling it instead)
Eat breakfast
Write one journal entry
make one personal goal for yourself.

So I guess that these goals change every month so I will start with these and then post when they change and I will weigh in once a week like they say and post how much I have lost, I am not quite comfortable posting what I weigh yet, but I will get there.

Other than that I haven't been doing much, I have sewed some lately. I made some pot holders which are freaking cute, and I made some stuff for my business. I will start painting the house and refinishing furniture soon to so I will have pictures of that too. I hope all you have doing well and Happy Fathers day to my wonderful husband!!

Been a long time...

I know I haven't been keeping up lately but we have been so freaking busy! So let me go through a little bit of what we have been doing and then I will tell you all about our most recent travels and how they went.

Casey and I have been busy, we got a letter in the mail that our insurance company was no longer going to insure our house because our shingles needed replaced. And then we found out that if we lost our insurance that they would recall our loan on our house. So I made a call and found out that it wasn't our house roof that needed replaced but that it was the garage roof since it wasn't 25 feet away from the house. So Casey and I went and bought all the stuff, Casey, our neighbor and his son, and the missionaries helped Casey take off all the shingles and then my cousins husband and Casey started the roof and Casey finished it. That took a lot of our time.

Another thing that Casey and I have been looking into was getting a bigger car. We had a Toyota matrix and Casey really wanted a big SUV and I was really sold on a van. I worked really really hard and I finally got Casey to agree. We looked and looked at all the vans and which ones we liked the best and we came to the Nissan Quest as our favorite. Well we went shopping for a dress for Addi and I for a wedding we were going to (which I will tell you about farther down in the post) and there happen to be a Chrystler town and country in the middle of the mall. It was a 2012 so newer than we had been looking at or wanting and the guy said that they had a bunch of used ones and we should go take a look. We hadn't looked at a town and country and we ended up really liking it. So we went and looked and a couple hours later we had a van. It's a blue green color and I love it!! It's great for my business it carries a lot and it has so much more room. We have travel short distances in it and it is so comfortable for me and there are DVD players in the head rest so Addi loves it. We plan on making a trip to California in January and are driving so we will see how she does. :) I think we're going to love owning a van.

This past weekend we went to one of Casey's cousins wedding in Kansas. It was a long flight it took us about 6 hours to get there and then it took about 12 hours to get back. We had a great time in Kansas with Casey's family and at the wedding it was nice to see them we haven't seen them in 6 months. But the trip back we got stuck in Minneapolis there were thunderstorms and lightening and rain so we didn't leave from there til 130am which made it 430am before we got home. It was a very long day needless to say. We did get on the train in Minneapolis and went to the Mall of America (it was a Sunday so they closed at 7pm and we got there at 830pm) but we got to see the inside even though the stores were closed we got to see the roller coaster and stuff. And then we looked over the railing and got to see the sting rays that are in the under sea adventure that is on the bottom floor of the mall. We eventually plan on going back there sometime so we can go when it is open and get to check everything out and maybe ride a few rides. Sorry this is a long post but I have some catching up to do. :)

Crazy life, but it's my life!

Needless to say we have been really busy lately. We have been working on the house which seems like may never get done. Casey and I were talking this weekend about just moving in and finishing it after we've moved in. I have our Master bedroom done except the trim, the one spare bedroom is done so we'll put Addi in there and just work room by room until it's done. We'll put everything in the garage and unload as we finish rooms.

We didn't do much of anything for Easter, we went to church but it was only one hour because we were sharing our building with a few other wards. Then we had an Easter egg hunt at our new house, and then I had to work that day so it was a pretty uneventful day. But we did get some great pictures of Addi Easter egg hunting, she loved it!

As for my weight loss journey....well.....I have been trying to be good but sometimes I have failed. Especially since we have been traveling so much. I am back on track, but in the 3 weeks I have been on this weight loss thing, I have lost a total of 6.6lbs which isn't a ton but it is a start and it is 6.6lbs less than when I started. I've realized that a REAL serving size/portion is small. A lot smaller than almost everyone eats. I've also realized that I really really like my fatty food, and sweets! But like I had said in my last post, Soda is my biggest enemy. But I am doing a lot better than I have ever done and I think I can be completely of soda really soon, it will be a treat once in awhile when we go out to dinner or something.

We bought a truck today, we needed something that could get us around from place to place that wasn't to expensive. For the past 5 months Casey has been taking me to work and picking me up from work and if Adelyn was asleep he'd just leave her at the house cause my Aunt and Uncle were there. Well when we move into our house he can't do that so we needed a second car. Casey has been wanting a truck and I gave in so I drove it to work for the first time today since we just bought it today. It is okay I still like my matrix.
